The subsidy is designed to support businesses to pay their workers. This is about keeping your team together and keeping them employed while we ride out the storm.
Even if your business needs to shut its doors at least you can retain your staff until things improve. We strongly suggest all food and hospitality businesses apply.
How to Apply
The subsidy is really easy to apply for. The Government has deliberately minimised the paperwork on this and you can easily apply online.
If you own or operate a NZ registered business, and your business revenue will likely reduce by at least 30 percent from the same time last year or if your forecast revenue for one month in the next three is likely to be reduced by 30% your business will be eligible for the subsidy.
You can apply online by following the link below, enter your key business details (such as bank account and IRD number) and the names, Date of Birth and tax details for your staff, then submit.
It could not be easier.
The subsidy is $585 per employee per week ($350 for part-time) and WINZ are committed to paying out within 5 working days (subject to workload). The maximum payout is $150K per applicant.

The Government is also offering a Leave Subsidy, that employers can apply for if they are paying employees who must self-isolate, are sick or caring for sick dependents. You must pass the payment on to employees, and details on the link above.
